The protracted armed conflict by Boko Haram in the northeast part of the country poses major protection challenges for women and girls. The insurgency and counter-insurgency operations have led to insecurity, heightened risks of gender-based violence, food insecurity, weakened basic socioeconomic services and destruction of the health system.
